The client wanted a page that told the history of South Downtown without burdening the reader. The solution: an engaging, reader-friendly timeline with inspiring illustrations.

South Downtown is known as a sleepy, forgotten corner of Atlanta, but SOUTH DWNTN is changing that. In 2016, Newport Real Estate assembled a collection of 48 historic buildings in the area with plans to reintroduce the area as a liveable, walkable, inclusive and connected neighborhood. The project’s guiding principle was to reinvigorate the area without erasing its past — a principle I used to guide the story of the new site.

Original copy to define South Downtown’s four key attributes.
We treated the site an extension of the neighborhood itself, including design elements inspired by South Downtown’s old buildings and signage. You can wander the site like you wander the streets, learning about its past on the “Our Story” page, envisioning what’s to come on the “Visit” page and discovering business opportunities on the “Leasing” page. Each page is written as an individual chapter that comes together to create a rich, layered story.
